Overview
The middle Sacramento River section runs from Chico to Knights Landing. The flows here are weaker, and the substrate is sand and cobble. There are a reduced number of creeks and side channels for fish to utilize and steep embankments that are continually eroding border the river. The two major creeks fish could enter are Stony Creek and Butte Creek. This section of the river is wider and has a greater depth than the upper Sacramento region, and little is know about the movement of juvenile salmonids through this area.
